Alum Helen Stewart was invited back to the university to

design 1451 in 2019. Helen had graduated from the university in 2017 and opened her own distillery called Badvo the following year, making her the youngest distillery owner.

1451, is made from entirely hand foraged botanicals, including Scottish Juniper, apple, wild mint, meadowsweet, and honeysuckle. Helen has since gone on to win Best New Talent in the Industry, and a Two Star Great Taste Award for her work with 1451. The judge's review of 1451 stated: ‘A perfect sipping gin, we feel, with a beautifully balanced twist of difference from the norm.'

1451 was launched at the live podcast event Soundtracks Live for the university where Helen was interviewed about her journey so far. You can listen to the episode on catch up here.
